This talk will discuss the importance of establishing a sound evidence-base for remote care. Using examples of studies conducted during pandemic, the talk will emphasise the need for a participatory approach to evaluation that takes account of multiple stakeholder perspectives, is alert both to the opportunities and challenges of remote care, and is attentive to unintended consequences and how they can be addressed.

One of the greatest prizes of digital and data in health is in their potential to improve patient safety, reduce avoidable errors, harms and deaths. Patient safety is at the heart of clinical informatics leadership roles, with many CCIOs and CNIOs also having responsibility as their organisation’s clinical safety officer. Yet the role of CSO is often unclear with limited support. This panel will explore how to better support clinical leaders to improve patient safety.
