Dame Clare Gerada, the former chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners and senior partner at digital pioneers the Hurley Group practices, is the latest high-profile speaker confirmed for Summer Schools 2021.

One of the UK’s best-known GP leaders, Dr Gerada will speak about the tensions inherent in leading the rapid digital transformation of primary care, while attempting to balance the contradictory demands of politicians and patients.

The whirlwind digital revolution unleashed by Covid-19 has thrown up wicked new questions, like can and should primary care ever again offer in-person appointments to all who want them?

Dr Gerada’s Summer Schools Friday keynote session will explore this and other key leadership challenges hitting the headlines in post-Covid digital-first primary care.

Other keynote speakers already confirmed include Liz O’Riordan and Professor Mary Dixon-Woods, Dr Simon Eccles, Natasha Philips and Sonia Patel.

The focus for Summer Schools 2021 is the evolution of digital leadership challenges and roles in health for current and future leaders. There is an open call for members of the Networks to provide 5-minute leadership diaries.

The programme will also showcase the newly elected members of the Network Advisory Panels, following June Network elections that have already attracted the largest ever field of candidates.
