Richard Kavanagh

Richard Kavanagh is a healthcare interoperability expert with more than 20 years of experience in technical leadership and healthcare data architecture. As Head of Technology UK&I at Better, he leads solution architecture and interoperability initiatives focused on enabling seamless, patient-centred care across local, regional, and national health systems. Richard specialises in FHIR, openEHR, and SNOMED CT, and has played a key role in major interoperability programmes, including NHS Digital’s national FHIR API initiative. He is also an active contributor to the healthcare standards community through leadership roles in openEHR UK, HL7 UK, and INTEROPen.
