Digital Health has published a working Summer Schools 2026 programme featuring CCIO, CIO and CNIO speakers, national leaders and subject matter experts.
The conference, which takes place on 16-17 July at the University of Nottingham, has a revamped format which doubles down on small-group and interactive sessions to provide attendees with more practical insights and deeper knowledge exchange.
The CPD-accredited programme will offer invaluable peer knowledge exchange and arm attendees with practical leadership skills to take back to their organisation.
Highlights include a session titled ‘AI is now the top risk to patient safety: what can organisations and patients do to protect themselves?’ which features leaders from Guy’s and St Thomas’, University Hospitals of Northamptonshire, West London NHS and Patient Safety Learning.
An unmissable panel session – ‘One year on from the 10 year health plan: where are we and what’s next?’ will also take place, featuring Salma Yasmeen, chief executive at Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
She will be joined by Dr Masoon Nazir, medical director for integrated care at NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB, and Dr Penny Kechagioglou, chair of the CCIO Networks Advisory Panel and CCIO at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
Other notable sessions include:
- Workshop: Nurturing digital champions across your organisation: a framework– Central and North West London NHS has developed a framework which you can apply to your organisation.
- Leading digital change: how to bring people with you– interactive workshop from Public Digital, the agency behind the creation of the Government Digital Service.
- Taking your seat at the table: a survival guide for first-time board members – seasoned NHS CIOs Andy Callow and Amy Freeman will share strategies for anyone pushing into executive level.
- Digitally enabled neighbourhoods: early learning from best practice – Andy Poole, NHS Dorset, and Abigail Harrison, CDIO, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, share early lessons and discuss next steps.
Professor Kathrin Cresswell, professor of digital innovation in health and care at the University of Edinburgh, was one of the first speakers to be announced for the event.
Marie-Anne Ledingham, consultant clinical adviser at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Tharni Vasavan, horizon scanning senior health technologies lead at NICE, have also been confirmed.
