Morning keynotes: John Quinn, CIO, NHS England and Gemma Stacey, Deputy CEO Florence Nightingale Foundation

John Quinn joined NHS Digital in February 2022, and has been CIO of the new NHSE since February 2023. He spent 8 years at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), where he was CIO and Transformation Director, leading major business change and EU exit programmes, following a career at the Department for Education in Digital and technology roles

Professor Gemma Stacey is Deputy Chief Executive of the Florence Nightingale Foundation, a registered mental health nurse and academic. She has grown the breath and volume of digital leadership development opportunities for nurses and midwives and contributed as panel chair to “The Ives Review”, a national education strategy to enable the digital readiness of the profession. Gemma’s contribution to the agenda is focused on ensuring data and digital are enablers to person centred practice through co-production, shared decision making and an emphasis on inclusion.

Jon is the founder and CEO of Digital Health, the health IT B2B news, research and events publisher and professional networks specialist. He previously co-founded and edited eHealth Insider, and is a leading journalist, commentator and thought leader on UK health IT. In 2014 he led the trade sale of eHealth insider to Informa Plc.

Achievements of note include: founding the UK CCIO movement, from launch of CCIO campaign in 2011 to development and growth of CCIO Networks and community; the development of Digital Health Networks – centred on CCIO and CIO Networks – as the leading independent online best practice community of NHS IT professionals – 5,000+ members as of November 2020; plus growing Digital Health Summer Schools into the premier health IT leadership event in UK; and launching Digital Health Rewired in March 2019 as the most dynamic and compelling Expo in digital health space.
