Dr James Reed
CCIO – Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS FT
James Reed is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Chief Clinical Information Officer at Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS FT. He was first appointed as CCIO in 2013 and during this time has overseen a range of digital projects including BSMHFT’s role in the Global Digital Exemplar Programme. He is also clinical lead for the West Midlands Shared Care Record programme. James has been involved in the CCIO network since its inception and has been on the advisory panel for the last 6 years and was elected chair in 2019 and re-elected in 2021.

Eddie joined the National Health Service (NHS) in 1988 and has worked as a clinician in secondary and primary care sectors. Eddie moved into the IT sector utilising his clinical knowledge and skills which has proved valuable in helping organisations to improve patient experience and increase the quality of care.
As a non-practicing clinician and digital expert, Eddie is enthusiastic about innovative technologies and their application in Healthcare. Eddie believes that clinicians have a key role to play in the delivery of digital, interoperable electronic health records, artificial intelligence and population health management.
Eddie is a graduate of the NHS Leadership Academy Executive Directors programme and is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion to address healthcare inequalities for patients and championing equality for all staff.

I currently hold the role of Digital Transformation Lead and Deputy CIO for Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent ICB and Digital Delivery Director within the Midlands & Lancs CSU. My ICB role includes responsibility for delivery of the system Digital Strategy and development of the digital roadmap and operational plan which underpins our investments. I lead delivery of this through the system’s Digital Transformation Enablement Function and third-party suppliers enabling whole system engagement with Portfolios, Provider Collaboratives, Executive leadership, Provider leads for digital, strategy and transformation.
I have held delivery roles for national programs including the NHS Safety Thermometer, National Shared Decision Making program as well as regional roles for remote monitoring and digital inclusion. I have also held delivery roles within KPMG Transaction Services, BUPA Healthcare UKI and hospital providers and patient advocacy NGO within Australia.

Natalie has over 15 years’ experience working in healthcare, delivering high-impact PR and marketing campaigns. She specialises in health-tech and has worked with companies ranging from blue-chip businesses to start-ups, implementing projects in brand development, lead generation, reputation management, media relations and digital media, crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, event management and public affairs.
Her previous roles include spearheading the industry trade body’s health and social care programmes (representing over 450 tech companies), and running a busy policy and communications department for an EPR supplier.
